The Ojibwa Artist Naturalist Orchids

Shining Ladies' Tresses Spiranthes lucida

These plants were growing along the edge of an artificial pond that is fed by a Mid-Michigan river. They are small but delightful plants and this reproduction doesn't do them justice. The next day I went back to look for them, but the river was higher. I never saw this colony again; they were underwater and covered with silt and debri.
